On November 16th, several members of the West Central Georgia Shutterbugs attended a reception honoring Brenda Fayard, who is a charter member of the club. Brenda is a highly skilled photographer who does far more than simply take pictures. She also teaches photography classes, curates shows, and hangs exhibits—among many other things. Some of her favorite photographs are on exhibit during November at A Novel Experience, located on the courthouse square in Zebulon. To inquire about upcoming events at the bookstore, hours of operation, or directions, please call 770.567.1103. West Central Georgia Shutterbugs to meet on Tuesday, Nov. 13
The West Central Georgia Shutterbugs will hold their regular monthly meeting on Tuesday, November 13, at 6:30 p.m. at the Thomaston-Upson Arts Council (TUAC) Gallery in downtown Thomaston. Although much of this meeting will be devoted to business matters such as the election of officers, visitors are invited to attend and have input regarding future programs and activities and to enjoy learning about “How to Compose a Good Photograph.” Members and guests who have “Fall” photos are invited to bring two or three to show to the entire group.
The meeting will be an ideal time to drop off items for the Mistletoe Market, which TUAC is hosting again this year. Any artist or photographer who is a TUAC member is invited to bring items (no more than 25) to sell during the Mistletoe Market, which opens on Tuesday, November 20th, just in time for holiday shopping. The Mistletoe Market/Gift Shop will be open during TUAC’s regular business hours (Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Wednesdays 10 a.m. to Noon), as well as during the third annual Victorian Christmas Celebration that will be held on the square the evening of Thursday, Nov. 29.
The photography of Brenda Fayard, one of the charter members of Shutterbugs, is being featured this month in an exhibit at A Novel Experience, a bookstore located beside The Country Moose Restaurant on the courthouse square in Zebulon. The reception honoring Brenda will be held on Friday, November 16th from 6:30-8:00 p.m. Shutterbugs are planning to attend not only to enjoy seeing the photographs but also to celebrate with Brenda over having a solo show, an honor afforded to only a few photographers.
Shutterbugs extend get well wishes to their current president, Dee DeLoatch, who is recovering from recent surgery at Duke University Hospital.

An independent jury panel, led by professional photographer, Jim Lewchuk, took special and detailed care in reviewing more than 125 entries submitted by 31 photographers. According to Karen Powers, Gallery Manager at Arts Clayton, “The jury was impressed by all of the entries and conveyed that it was very difficult to decide which works to include in the show.” Photo by Peggy Brooks.

Shutterbugs to meet on October 9th
The West Central Georgia Shutterbugs will hold their regular monthly meeting on Tuesday, October 9th, 6:30 p.m., at the Thomaston-Upson Arts Council (TUAC) Gallery, located on the square. An exciting program, “Tips and Techniques for Taking Better Photos,” is planned, as well as the announcement of which photo earned the “People’s Choice Award” during the group’s recent exhibit at TUAC. Visitors are always invited to attend the meetings and learn alongside members.Shutterbugs have been busy. Several entered the photography contest at The Rock Ranch on September 29th, and Harolyn Castleberry received a third place award there. Marcia Fisher and Johnnie Ann Gaskill each had one photo that was juried into an exhibit at Arts Clayton in Jonesboro and are eagerly waiting to hear how their photos fared during the judging process. That exhibit, which is held annually in conjunction with “Atlanta Celebrates Photography,” will be open during October. Several Shutterbugs submitted entries to the Georgia National Fair, which will be held October 4-14th. Shutterbugs hope to bring home many awards, as they’ve done in the past.
Fawne DeRosia and Malgorzata Florkowska were juried into the 2007 SlowExposures, held in Concord during the last two weekends in September. Malgorzata’s photo received a first place award, and Fawne’s photo was purchased. Several of Johnnie Ann Gaskill’s photos have been posted on http://www.pikecountytimes.com/, and the editor has graciously posted this link to the Shutterbugs’ blogspot: http://www.wcgshutterbugs.blogspot.com/. Nine members have photo galleries posted on the web. Their names are listed on the blogspot so that visitors to the site can click on their names and see some of the beautiful photos taken by Shutterbugs.
